24 Year-old Killed From Shooting

Los Angeles – On Monday, April 2, 2001, at approximately 7:50 PM, Walter Buffin, 24 years old, was standing in the street at the northeast corner of Main Street and 74th Street, when the suspect(s) approached him. The unknown suspect(s) fired several shots at the victim. Walter Buffin sustained a single gunshot wound to his abdomen and fell to the ground. The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics transported Buffin to a local hospital. While at the hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead at 9:29 PM.
The motive for this crime is unknown, and the suspect(s) and weapon are still outstanding. 77Th Street Homicide Detectives George Diaz, and Richard Guzman are handling the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact 77th Street Detectives at 213-485-1385.
