"24 Year Old Pacific Area Resident Killed While Washing His Car"
Los Angeles – On Saturday, May 5, 2001, at approximately 4:55 p.m., a male Hispanic, identified as 24 year old, Javier Hernandez was standing in a driveway washing his car located in the 4600 block of Sawtelle Boulevard. The suspect, described as a male, Hispanic, 5’6", 170lbs, black hair, medium build was wearing a white painters cap, blue denim shorts, tan shirt, white socks and shoes. The suspect approached the victim on foot and fired several rounds with a medium caliber handgun striking the victim in the upper torso. The suspect fled on foot northbound and was last seen at Sawtelle Boulevard and Braddock Avenue.
Javier Hernandez was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
