Where: Southeast Area Police Station 145 West 108th Street Los Angeles

Los Angeles: On May 22, 2003, Rogelio Magana was employed as a taxi driver. Magana was dropping off a fare near El Segundo Boulevard and Hoover Street when he was shot and killed. Homicide detectives have identified Edward Thomas, an 18 year-old male Black as the suspect in this case. A photograph of Thomas will be available to the media.

On August 23, 2003, 16 year-old Daniel Fitzgerald was shot and killed as he walked home from a store. A suspect who initiated a conversation regarding gang affiliation approached Daniel and then without provocation, shot him with a handgun. Daniel was an aspiring high school basketball player and was not involved in any gang activities.

A press conference is being held to announce the City’s offer of a $25,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of both suspects responsible for these senseless acts. The family of both victims will be in attendance.
