WHY: On November 11, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Luis Varela was crossing Wilshire Boulevard at Park View Street when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop to render aid and identify him or herself. Varela sustained severe head trauma and was admitted into the intensive care unit at a local hospital where he is still in a coma as of today. The family and Detectives will be asking the community’s help in identifying the hit-and run driver and announce the $25,000 reward for any information leading to the identity, arrest and conviction of the driver.
