$25,000 Reward Offered in Homicide Investigation

Where: 314 Chestnut Avenue, Los Angeles

Los Angeles: Northeast Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of 19 year-old Efren Diaz of Los Angeles.

On October 20, 2002, at approximately 12:35 a.m., Efren Diaz, a male Hispanic was attending a birthday party at a friend’s house when an unidentified suspect approached and shot him. The suspect fled the location on foot, but returned a few moments later and shot the victim additional times as the victim was receiving aid from some of the partygoers. The suspect subsequently left the scene for the second time and fled the location in a vehicle. The suspect vehicle is described as a possible 1998 light blue, or bluish green Chevy pick up truck, possibly an S-10. The vehicle has tinted side windows and may be lowered. It is described as having a “flow master” type exhaust system, stock rims and a chrome ball hitch on the rear bumper.

Councilman Pacheco and the victim’s family will be present at the conference as well as a composite drawing of the suspect.

The City Council has approved a $25,000 reward for anyone who has information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible in this matter.
