Los Angeles: The excitement is growing for the 2nd Annual Lupus Race for Life on Saturday, October 13, 2001, at El Dorado Park East in Long Beach. This unique event brings together the community to support one cause–raising funds for lupus and increasing awareness.
This race has special meaning for many of the committee members in law enforcement and fire service who either have lupus themselves or have loved ones living with the disease. Last year the Los Angeles Police Department was responsible for spearheading the event which netted the Lupus Foundation of America over $60,000.00 in donations.
In helping the Lupus Foundation we are also helping to support our fellow employees who suffer in silence from this chronic illness.
Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard C. Parks will participate in the 5k/10k run along with other official representatives. The course of the run is scenic, shaded and has a lake view. There will be barbeque, refreshments, live entertainment, child care services, plus lots more.
