WHY:
It was February 6, 2008, when a barricaded gunman killed several family members in Winnetka, and fired at LAPD officers including Officer Randal David Simmons, a 27-year LAPD veteran.  Simmons became the LAPD’s first SWAT officer to die in the line of duty.

West Valley Area BOOSTERS and a commanding officer will present a donation check to Lisa Simmons, widow of SWAT Officer Randal Simmons, to benefit The Randal D. Simmons Outreach Foundation from proceeds of the 3rd Annual West Valley Memorial Ride held on August 28, 2010.

An appreciation plaque will also be presented to California Highway Patrol Captain Jeff Goodwin for the CHP’s support of the 3rd Annual Memorial Ride.
