4-Year-Old Killed in Traffic Collision NR21180wc

Harbor City: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a motorist involved in a fatal traffic collision.

On Friday, July 9, 2021, around 8:23 p.m., a possible white 4 door vehicle made a U-turn in front of a truck occupied by an adult driver and two juvenile passengers on Vermont Avenue at Pacific Coast Highway. The truck veered into oncoming traffic and ran off the roadway colliding with several trees and a light post. The driver of the white vehicle did not stop and identify themselves or render aid.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the driver and passengers of the truck to a local area hospital. The driver and one passenger were listed in critical condition. The second passenger, a Hispanic female, 4-years-old, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
