WHY:
On January 5, 2025, 61-year-old Gregory Vaughn Simpson was traveling westbound on Manchester Avenue on an electric scooter when he was struck by a dark, possibly black BMW SUV traveling at a high rate of speed. The BMW appeared to drag both the victim and the scooter for several feet. The BMW suddenly stopped, and both the driver and front passenger exited the vehicle and physically moved the victim and scooter away from their vehicle. The two re-entered the BMW and fled westbound on Manchester Avenue at a high rate of speed without rendering aid to the victim. Gregory succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

We are releasing video and images of the suspect’s SUV and announcing a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the identity, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible for striking and killing Gregory Vaughn Simpson.
