WHY:
During the ceremony, two members of the Los Angeles Police Department will receive the Lifesaving Medal and 73 will receive the Police Commission’s Unit Citation.  A strict criterion governs these awards.  Department personnel receiving the awards will be recognized for their outstanding bravery, dedication and service, or for showing great compassion and for having gone beyond the call of duty in their response to fellow human beings.
