"77th Street Homicide Detectives Investigate the Murder of a 48 year old Male and the Attempted Murder of 33 year old Female"
 
Los Angeles: On Wednesday, October 17, 2001, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the victims, 48-year old Jesse Lee Johnson Sr., and 33-year old Jacqueline Tuggle, were standing in a driveway on the 1700 block of 84th Place. Unknown suspect(s) drove by in a light colored 4 door Cadillac and fired numerous rounds at both victims. Both Johnson and Tuggle sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper torso. Johnson died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics transported Tuggle to a local hospital, where she is listed in stable condition. The suspect(s) were last seen driving away, northbound on Western Avenue.
The motive for this crime is unknown. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
