82 Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in a Traffic Collision

Los Angeles: On Monday March 24, 2003 at approximately 3:50 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred in which 82 year-old Neamatollah Pounoray of Los Angeles was killed at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Federal Avenue.
A 49 year-old resident of West Hollywood was driving her 1993 Ford Explorer westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard. As the Explorer made a turn onto Federal Avenue, her vehicle struck the left side of a 2002 Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard, driven by a 29 year-old resident of Los Angeles. The impact caused the Jeep to go in a southeast direction, colliding with Mr. Pournoray standing on the sidewalk at the southeast corner of the intersection.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Mr. Pournoray to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
