Severe Injury Felony Hit-And-Run

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, Central Traffic Detectives are seeking the publics help in identifying a driver that was involved in a Felony Hit and Run, who injured a male pedestrian, a resident of Los Angeles.

On May 14, 2023, at 7:55 p.m., a male victim was crossing the intersection at 3rd Street and Westlake Avenue, in a northwest diagonal direction. As he was crossing westbound third street, a gray 2007-2010 Toyota Camry struck the victim from behind. The collision caused the victim to fly into the air, and land on the street. The driver continued westbound, made a northbound right turn onto AlvaradoStreet, and  fled without rendering aid or identifying him or herself.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, transported the victim to a local hospital, and was admitted for his non-life-threatening severe injuries. He is still in the hospital and expected to make a full recovery.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves. The public is also reminded that pedestrians should exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic lights, cross within marked crosswalks, and obey the rules of the road.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
