Los Angeles – On Saturday, May 19, 2001, at approximately 5:50 P.M., a traffic collision occurred in front of 1877 East 51st Street in the Puebla Del Rio housing development. Nine year old Addsav Kov, (female Cambodian child) was attempting to cross southbound on 51st Street from in front of her residence to a school yard on the other side of the street. She was struck by an unknown type brown vehicle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on 51st Street towards Holmes Avenue. The suspect’s vehicle continued westbound on 51st Street at a high rate of speed without stopping.

Witnesses at the scene, who were reluctant to speak with police due to the area being heavily infested with gang activity, described the hit and run driver as a male Hispanic with a shaved head without any further description.

UPDATE
On Sunday, May 20, 2001, Detectives received information from an anonymous source, which led them to a vehicle matching the description of the Hit and Run vehicle. The vehicle was one block from the crime scene. Investigators were able to locate the suspect, who is identified as 19 year old Ismael Zuniga, at his residence a few blocks from where the child was killed. He was taken into custody without incident and has been booked for Felony Hit and Run.
