A Los Angeles Police Department Officer Arrested for Rape NR23098ne

The Los Angeles Police Department can confirm Diego Jose Miranda Lopez is not in custody. Inquiries regarding filing need to be directed to the DA’s office.

Los Angeles: On April 20, 2023, Diego Jose Miranda Lopez, a former officer of the Los Angeles Police Department, who was assigned to North Hollywood Area, was arrested in the City of Los Angeles for Rape. Diego Jose Miranda Lopez was a probationary officer and resigned when confronted with the allegations.

Juvenile Division’s detectives in partnership with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office established probable cause to believe the suspect committed the act of rape. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will review the case next Monday, April 24, 2023 for filing considerations.

Diego Jose Miranda Lopez was booked at Valley Jail for a violation of the Welfare and Institutions Code, California Penal Code Sections 602WIC/261(a)(2) Forcible Rape Child Under 14 Years, Booking No. 6589672. He is currently being held without bail pending court proceedings. The alleged assault occurred prior to his employment with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Juvenile Division, under Detective Bureau, is investigating the criminal allegations of rape and Internal Affairs Division, under Professional Standards Bureau, is responsible for the administrative investigation relating to this case.
