Amendment to LAPD Media Card (Press Pass) Fee NR26105eo

The Los Angeles Police Department announces an amendment to the fee associated with LAPD-issued Media Cards (Press Passes) pursuant to Ordinance No. 188897, which amended Section 52.16, Subsection H of the Los Angeles Municipal Code.

Effective May 4, 2026, the fee for the initial issuance of an LAPD Media Card (Press Pass) will increase to $144.00. In addition, no fee will be charged for the reissuance of a media card, including replacement cards issued due to loss, damage, or renewal.

The updated fee structure applies to all new media card applications submitted on or after May 4, 2026. Existing media card holders requesting reissuance after the effective date will not be charged a replacement fee.

The exclusive purpose of LAPD press passes shall be to enable the bearer to pass through established police and or fire lines within the City of Los Angeles in order to cover news events occurring behind such lines.
