Annual Fund Raising to Help Children in Need

October 28, 2003

Los Angeles: Ten years ago, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division adopted the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit. Since then, they have actively participated in raising funds for this invaluable program. Central Traffic Division takes pride in contributing to the Children’s Hospital, which also benefits the child’s immediate family.

This year, the 8th Annual “Cops for Tots” car show will be held on November 2, 2003, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Los Angeles Police Academy located at 1880 North Academy Drive, Los Angeles.

Among the entities showcased, representatives from Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), Recruitment Section, and the Los Angeles Police Historical Society will be present. Last year, over 400 cars and trucks were on exhibition and $28,000 was raised. Over the last ten years Central Traffic Division has raised $135,000 and all proceeds went to the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital BMT Unit.

Central Traffic Division would appreciate your participation in this charitable event in any way possible. For additional information, please contact Central Traffic Division Car Show Committee members, Sergeant Tom Tavares, Officer Abe Rangel or Officer Mike Belmonte, at 213-485-2799.
