WHY:
Annually, the Los Angeles Police Department hosts a Memorial Ceremony to honor the 208 LAPD officers killed in the line of duty. The ceremony will be attended by LAPD personnel, City officials, members of the community and family members of the fallen officers.

The program will feature the traditional “roll call” of fallen heroes, a 21-rifle volley, a “missing man” formation helicopter flyover and the symbolic sounds of bagpipes. At the conclusion of the ceremony, family members will place a long stemmed rose near their loved one’s name plate in the brass Memorial Wall.
