Los Angeles: An armed man barricaded himself inside a strangers’ home after an officer involved shooting in south Los Angeles.
On October 20, 2006, around 5:16 p.m., 77th Street officer Andrew Gonzales and his partner Ruben Cardenas, were patrolling in the area of 53rd Street and Vermont Avenue. The officers saw a man later identified as 23-year-old Tywan Johnson, standing in the street, leaning into a parked car.
As the officers drove near Johnson, he ran. Officers got out of their vehicle and chased Johnson. During the chase, he pointed a handgun at Officer Gonzales. Officer Gonzales fired at Johnson but missed.
