Armed Robbery Suspects Caught on Surveillance Video

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Area Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on September 29, 2003, at 4:20 p.m., at the Karni Jewelry Store, located in the 5000 block of Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, posing as a customer was buzzed into the business and approached the counter to have his watch repaired. At this time, a second suspect attempted to gain entry into the business but was denied. The suspect inside the business then pointed a blue steel handgun at the victim and demanded that she open the door for the second suspect. The victim complied and opened the door. Once the second suspect entered the location, the first suspect punched the victim on her forehead then struck a second victim with the butt of the handgun.
The victims were ordered to the rear of the store where they were made to open the safes and surrender the keys to the display cases. The suspects removed property from the safes and currency from the victim’s purse. One victim was tied up and the telephone line was cut by one of the suspects. Both suspects exited the location with U.S. currency, jewelry, and the victim’s cellular phone.
The suspect with the gun is described as a male Black, black hair, brown eyes, 5’-9", 170 pounds, 15-16 years old, wearing a tan shirt, tan pants, and dark shoes, he had very short hair. The second suspect is described as a male Black, black hair, black eyes, 5’-7", 140 pounds, 13 years old, wearing a short sleeve dark gray shirt and blue and gray pants, he also had very short hair.
The robbery was captured on the business’ surveillance video. The videotape of the robbery is available to the media at the LAPD Media Relations Section, 150 North Los Angeles Street, Room 626, Los Angeles.
