Arrest Made in Homicide Involving a Child NR22211ah

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division-Abused Child Section have arrested 32-year-old Darwin Reyes for the murder of his 5-year-old son.

On July 25, 2022, at 2:20 p.m., Rampart Patrol Division officers received a radio call of a 5-year-old boy unconscious and not breathing in a bathtub at the 4000 block of Marathon Street. Upon the officers’ arrival, they observed vomit and blood in the bedroom and in the bathroom of the residence. Upon entering the bathroom, officers saw the victim in the bathtub unconscious and not breathing. Officers attempted to render aid to the victim and requested paramedics.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Juvenile Division-Abused Child Section responded, and their investigation revealed Reyes was the suspect. The investigation is still ongoing.

On July 25, 2022, around 11:00 p.m., Darwin Reyes was booked at the Metropolitan Jail Division for 273a (b) PC-Willful Cruelty to a Child. His bail was set for $1,000,000.00 (Booking# 6426142). On July 27, 2022, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for criminal filing consideration.
