Attempted Burglar Caught on Tape NR10236gb

May 6, 2010

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Los Angeles Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a suspect who attempted to burglarize a residence in Pacific Palisades.

On Monday, May 3, 2010, at around 2:20 p.m., the owner of a single family home located in the 17000 block of Tramonto Drive, initially heard a knock at the front door and ignored it.  The homeowner was then alerted to the sound of breaking glass and followed the sound to a back bathroom where the suspect was seen attempting to climb through a locked window.   The home owner yelled at the suspect, who immediately retreated from the window and ran out of sight into the backyard.  The suspect was then caught on surveillance video as he ran away through the property of the Getty Villa.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic between 35 to 40 years old with a receding hair line.  He stands about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 140 to 150 pounds.   He was last seen wearing a green tank top and gray sweat pants.  Detectives believe the suspect was injured during his escape and has a cut of nearly six inches on his right bicep area.

The still photo of the suspect is attached with this release and also available through Media Relations Section.
