Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Gang Detectives arrested three individuals for attempted murder. Detectives believe that these suspects have been involved in additional, unreported aggravated assaults and attempted murders. Detectives are releasing the suspects photos and urge anyone who was a victim of the suspects to notify investigators.

The three incidents are not related.

1st Incident – On December 15, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a vehicle containing two male and two female occupants was attempting to drive out of a parking lot, located in the 3200 block of West Florence Avenue.

The victims stopped their vehicle in the parking lot and were approached by the suspect. The suspect was armed with a handgun, and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle. As a result, one of the male victims was struck in the head by gunfire and was critically wounded. A female victim also sustained a graze wound to the head, and the additional male passenger also sustained a graze wound to the back.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance footage which depicted the shooting incident in its entirety and resulting in the suspect subsequently being identified as 18-year-old Kaleb Cotton of Carson.

Kaleb Cotton was arrested without incident in the City of Carson in a collaborative effort with Gang Narcotics Division, United States Marshall’s Apprehension Task Force. Cotton was booked for 664/187PC-Attempted Murder. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and four counts of attempted murder were filed.

2nd Incident – On February 17, 2023, at approximately 1:20p.m., a male victim entered a cannabis dispensary located in the 5000 block of South Hoover and attempted to purchase marijuana. However, a verbal dispute ensued between the victim and the suspect, who was an employee of the establishment. The suspect followed the victim out of the dispensary and confronted the victim as he attempted to leave in his vehicle. The suspect, armed with a handgun, fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking him in the neck. The victim sustained grave injuries and was subsequently paralyzed.

Detectives responded to the location of the crime scene where multiple 9mm cartridge casings were recovered. In addition, search warrants were authored to obtain surveillance footage. The surveillance footage depicted the shooting incident in its entirety, and as result, the suspect was identified as 22-year-old Manuel Camarena of Carson.

Manuel Camarena was arrested without incident in the City of Carson in a collaborative effort with Gang and Narcotics Division, and the United States Marshall’s Apprehension Task Force. Camarena was booked for 664/187PC-Attempted Murder. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, one count of attempted murder and firearm possession by an ex-convict were filed.

3rd – Incident – On February 8, 2023, at approximately 1:40p.m., two males and a female victim were traveling northbound on 10th Avenue towards 68th Street. The victims stopped their vehicle near the intersection, where they were approached by the suspect. The suspect was armed with a handgun and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, as result the female victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, and later determined to be paralyzed.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance footage, which depicted the shooting incident in its entirety and as a result, the suspect was subsequently identified as 19-year-old Jashone King of Los Angeles.

Jashone King was arrested and booked for 664/187PC-Attempted Murder. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, three counts of attempted murder were filed.
