WHY: LAPD Southeast Area and Pat Hines, founder of Safe Moves, will host a press conference at 99th Street Elementary School. The goal of the event is to promote traffic safety and to educate the children, and the driving public, about traffic hazards and behaviors of both the drivers and the children. Traffic safety is a two-way street that requires awareness for both children and drivers. This event addresses both of these audiences with the objective to keep children safe on their way to and from school. “Safe Moves City”, a miniature city, will be set up to replicate city streets and sidewalk to demonstrate the different traffic hazards facing children.
