Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a murder suspect(s).

On April 12, 2018, around 1:00 a.m., the victim was riding his bicycle in the 1600 block of west 11th street when suspect(s) approached him and shot him for an unknown reason. The victim was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at California Hospital.

There is no suspect description to release at his time but we believe there were witnesses to the crime and they might have pertinent information to assist detectives.

The victim is Jamel Lewis, who was 39 years old, and lived in the area. He is survived by his mother, uncle and aunt. The family is asking for the public’s help to have some closure and bring justice to the suspects who committed this heinous crime.
