Los Angeles: On Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 4:30 PM, a red Ford Mustang was traveling north on Mason Avenue. The Mustang was driven by Mr. Nim Hen. Mr. Hen swerved to avoid colliding with a silver or gold colored Buick or Toyota sedan. The sedan was exiting on the south driveway of the shopping mall’s parking lot located at the 10200 Block of Mason Avenue, in Chatsworth. As a result of Mr. Hen’s evasive maneuver, he drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a parked Jeep SUV, a Honda Accord, and a fire hydrant. Mr. Hen has been clinically diagnosed brain dead. Mr. Hen’s passenger sustained severe injuries. Because the driver of the vehicle causing Mr. Hen to swerve failed to stop and identify themselves and render aid, he or she was in violation of the California Vehicle Code, felony hit and run.
For the Hen family, this tragedy has been compounded by the death of their daughter who was murdered on July 4, 2002 at the Los Angeles International Airport, where she worked for El Al Airline’s ticket counter.
Anyone who may have information or witnessed this collision, is asked to contact Valley Traffic Division Detectives at 818-756-8381 or 818-756-8391 after hours.
