"Burglary Suspect Arrested"

Los Angeles – On Thursday, November 2, 2000 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Pacific Area patrol Officers Richard Garibay and Joe Cruz arrested a parolee who had plagued the area for the past two months. The parolee was suspected of committing early morning burglaries at two area Radio Shacks. One located in Palms and the other in Westchester. The suspect always gained entry by use of a large prying tool and would remove TVs and VCRs. On several of the burglaries the parolee’s vehicle was captured on store video. The alert officers observed this vehicle parked adjacent to the Radio Shack in Palms and arrested the driver for the burglaries. Burglary tools were recovered from the vehicle. A search, by the detectives, of the parolee’s residence, resulted in the recovery of electronic equipment taken in these crimes.

The District Attorneys office has filed burglary charges in this case.

This press release was prepared by Officer Charlotte Broughton, Media Relations Section 213-485-3586.
