Car To Car Shooting Leaves One Dead

Los Angeles: On Saturday, January 11, 2003, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Northeast Area Patrol Officers, responded to a radio call of a shooting investigation in the 600 block of Solano Avenue. The victim, a male Hispanic, 27 years of age, and the driver of the vehicle, a female white, 21 years of age, were stopped, at the red tri-light on Pasadena Avenue at Avenue 26. A dark colored vehicle stopped next to them and unidentified suspect(s) fired several shots at the victims. The male victim was struck in the upper torso. The female victim drove away from the area in at attempt to summons medical assistance.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the male Hispanic dead. The identity of the victim is not being released pending next of kin notification. The motive for this homicide appears to be gang related.
