WHAT: A press conference detailing the LAPD’s Catalytic Converter Task Force (CCTF).

WHY: On September 17, 2015, LAPD’s Operations Valley Bureau Catalytic Converter Task Force served search warrants in the San Fernando Valley. The task force was formed to combat catalytic converter thefts occurring throughout San Fernando Valley.

Catalytic converters are targeted by thieves because they contain precious metals. During the 6 month long investigation, nearly a dozen catalytic converter thieves were arrested and charged with felony grand theft.
