Los Angeles: On November 14, 2025, around 4:10 p.m., Central Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call of a battery suspect in the area of 12th Street and Hill Street. A small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) operated by a Los Angeles Police Department, Drone as First Responder (DFR), Pilot Program also responded to the location.

The Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) located the suspect and directed officers to his location. When the officers arrived, the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Joseph Allen, fled from them and a foot pursuit ensued. When one of the officers caught up with Allen, he took a fighting stance, punched the officer on her face, and grabbed her upper body and neck when a use of force occurred. When the second officer reached them, Allen was still fighting her partner. The officer struck Allen in the head and body with the radio she had been holding in her hand during the foot pursuit. Both officers and Allen went to the ground. A bystander intervened and assisted the officers in attempting to control the suspect. As Allen continued to fight the officers and the bystander, one of the officers deployed her TASER. Additional officers arrived at scene and took Allen into custody without further incident.

Officers requested a rescue ambulance, which transported Allen to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries related to the TASER deployment and an abrasion to his head. Allen was not admitted to the hospital for his injuries.

Both officers were transported by rescue ambulance to a local hospital, where they were treated and released for the injuries they sustained during the use of force.

No other community members or officers were injured as a result of this incident.

Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation into this incident.
