Central Traffic Division to Conduct Driver’s License and Sobriety Checkpoint

December 1, 2005

What:
Sobriety and Driver’s License Checkpoint
When:
Friday, December 16, 2005
6:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Where:
Northeast Area, Los Angeles
Who:
Central Traffic Division
Why:
It is believed that the majority of hit-and-run traffic collisions involved either DUI and/or unlicensed drivers.  Drinking and driving is an unacceptable behavior causing impairment, which may lead to property damage, injury, and/or death.  The LAPD strongly advise a designated sober driver for those choosing to go out and drink.  Also if you don’t have a driver’s license please don’t drive.  It is against the law and your car will be impounded.
The checkpoint is part of the LAPD’s ongoing effort to reduce drinking and driving during the holiday season.
For further information please contact, Sergeant Jay Nuñez, Central Traffic Division at 213-972-1864.
