"Chief Parks Recognizes Ten Heroic Officers"

Los Angeles – On Friday, September 1, 2000, at 9:30 a.m., Chief of Police Bernard C. Parks will recognize ten Los Angeles Police Officers who will receive the Medal of Valor Award. This press conference will be held at the Ahmanson Recruit Training Center, located at 5651 W. Manchester Boulevard, Los Angeles.

The Medal of Valor is the Department’s highest award and is awarded to officers who distinguish themselves by distinct bravery or heroism above and beyond the normal demands of police service. The ten officers who will be recognized on Friday have performed acts displaying extreme courage while consciously facing imminent peril.

These officers have performed heroic acts throughout the City of Los Angeles and will be available after the press conference for media inquiries regarding their heroic deeds.

The annual Medal of Valor Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel (California Ball Room), 404 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles.
