Chief William Bratton Receives Award from the Harlem Globetrotter at Police Academy Magnet School

Chief Bratton receives an honorary Globetrotter Goodwill Ambassador Award from legendary Globetrotter Curly Neal and current players in recognition of his years of “above the rim” dedication and service at the LAPD.

Why:
Chief Bratton will be presented with a Globetrotter team jersey during a special “hand’s on” clinic presentation at Reseda High’s Police Academy Magnet School with Globetrotters Curly Neal, “Wildkat” Edgerson and “The Shot” Versher and approximately 150 students from grades 6 to 12.

During the presentation, the Globetrotters will hold a motivational clinic, incorporating the team’s signature ball handling skills focusing on the positive character “C.H.E.E.R.” traits of: Cooperation, Healthy Mind and Body, Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility.  

The LA Police Academy Magnet School is a highly successful program that prepares youth for rewarding careers in law enforcement by challenging cadets with a rigorous thematic curriculum along with emphasizing optimum physical fitness levels.  The program began in 1996 and currently operates on six campuses within the LAUSD.
