Los Angeles: On Tuesday, November 12, 2002, Los Angeles Police Department’s Chief of Police, William J. Bratton, will announce three key promotions as part of his new command staff.
LAPD Commander James P. McDonnell, currently assigned to the Office of Special Assistant, will be promoted to Assistant Chief; Commander Sharon K. Papa, currently assigned to the Ombuds Office, will be promoted to Deputy Chief; Commander George Gascon, currently assigned as the Commanding Officer of Training Group, will be promoted to Deputy Chief.
Chief Bratton stated, "These promotions that I am making are consistent with the Department’s tradition to promote those best qualified to positions of increased responsibilities within the organization."
