Collision Leaves One Dead Driver Arrested for DUI NR12209cj

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help to provide information on a collision that left one pedestrian dead.

On Sunday, May 6, 2012, around 9:55 p.m., West Traffic Area officers received a radio call of a traffic collision that occurred on 3rd Street west of Normandie Ave.  When the officers arrived they discovered an unresponsive man on the ground who appeared to have been hit by a car.  Officers also noticed a car that was stopped in the area of the injured pedestrian.  LAFD rescue personnel responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.  The victim was later identified as 45-year-old Los Angeles resident Marlon Molina.

The investigation revealed that a car traveling eastbound 3rd Street struck Molina who was in the roadway.  The driver of the car was 28-year-old Randy Allen Matthews of Los Angeles, who stopped at the scene.  After further investigation, Matthews was later arrested and booked at the Metro detention Center for DUI.  His bail was set at $50,000.00.
