DARE Elementary School Culmination

On January 14, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at Parker Center Administration Building Auditorium, The Los Angeles Police Department in conjunction with D.A.R.E. America is hosting a combined citywide D.A.R.E. elementary school culmination.

This ceremony is one of the most important aspects of the D.A.R.E. curriculum and represents significant accomplishments of the many youth that are involved. The culmination is an activity designed to help recognize the student’s achievement and reinforces their personal commitment to stay drug and violence free in front of their peers, family and friends.

Over 100 students representing four different schools, from the Los Angeles area will play a part in the program. It will include brief student performances and the student’s personal commitment essays written by the students to stay drug-free and to avoid violence.

Guests scheduled to attend include Police Commission President Edith Perez, Chief Bernard C. Parks, LAUSD Superintendent Ruben Zacarias, and D.A.R.E. America President and Founding Director Glenn Levant. This event will draw attention to the D.A.R.E. philosophy and the enormous value it offers not only to the parents of the students but also to the entire community as well. This promises to be an inspiring and educational event.
