"Department Expresses Sympathy over the Loss of Long-Time
Los Angeles Leader, John Ferraro"
Los Angeles- Today, the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department would like to extend our deepest sympathy to family members and loved ones of The Honorable John Ferraro, the late President of the Los Angeles City Council and great representative of the Fourth District.
Councilman Ferraro, a native of Los Angeles, was an All-American tackle for the University of Southern California. His service to the City of Los Angeles began in 1966 when he was elected to the Los Angeles City Council. He was since, elected to nine consecutive terms and was, at the time of his death, serving his ninth term.
Chief of Police Bernard C. Parks expressed sorrow over the news of Councilman Ferraro’s death, stating, "The men and women of the LAPD are saddened over the passing away of John Ferraro. John was a personal friend and a great supporter of the Los Angeles Police Department. Councilman Ferraro’s leadership impacted not only those who lived in the Fourth District, but extended beyond to all Angelenos. He will be sorely missed."
