Department of Parks and Recreation Employee Killed

Wednesday, November 3, 1999

On Tuesday morning, November 2, 1999 at approximately 10:40 A.M., the victim, a Department of Parks and Recreation employee, was approached by two male Hispanic suspects at Banning Park. Multiple shots were fired and fatally injured the victim. The suspects were last seen fleeing in opposite directions away from the victim. Fire Department Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim’s death at 10:50 A.M. The incident occurred in Banning Park across from 1316 North Eubank, Wilmington, CA.

Victim: Brandon Christopher Duenas

Male, Hispanic, 22 years old

The motive for the shooting appears to be gang related.
