Detectives Announce the Arrest of Sexual Assault Suspect and Seek Additional Victims NR23183ti

Northridge: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, Devonshire Division’s Sexual Assault Investigation Unit announce the arrest of Cedric Tinsley for Sexual Assault and seek additional victims.

On June 30, 2023, around 10 p.m., Tinsley discovered the victim’s residence near the 19000 block of Astor Place was unsecured. Tinsley entered the residence, encountered the victim, and sexually assaulted her. He then fled the location with the victim’s property in her vehicle.

On July 1, 2023, around 2:30 p.m., Tinsley was stopped while driving the victim’s stolen vehicle near the 2700 block of East Los Angeles Street, in Simi Valley. He was subsequently arrested for “Sexual Assault during the commission of a residential Burglary.”

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office charged Tinsley with California Penal Code Sections 261-Rape, 287-Forced Oral Copulation, 236-False Imprisonment, and 487-Grand Theft, and he is currently being held on $1,200,000 bail (Booking Number 6633963).

Devonshire Area Sexual Assault investigators are releasing the suspect’s booking photo because they believe the suspect is responsible for additional, unreported sexual assaults and they are asking for anyone that was victimized by this suspect to immediately contact the LAPD. In addition, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for information regarding this crime.
