Detectives Requesting Public’s Assistance in Locating Hit and Run Suspect

A press conference was held today at 10:00 A.M. by Central Traffic Detectives at Viertel’s Tow located at 1155 West Temple, Los Angeles. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect responsible for the hit-and-run death of Humberto Soto, a male, Hispanic, 22 years of age.

On Sunday, March 21, 1999 at approximately 11:00 A.M., Humberto Soto was walking in the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Kenmore Avenue when he was killed in a hit and run incident. A short time later, the suspect’s vehicle was abandoned near Vermont Avenue and First Street.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the hit and run vehicle was a rental from Alamo Rental. Mr. Luis Savini rented the vehicle on March 16, 1999 and gave an address located in Spain. At this time Mr. Savini is wanted for questioning only by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Central Traffic Division Detective Tia Morris, Detective Josephine Mapson and Detective Robert Cortez along with family members of the victim were present at the press conference. A photo of the victim was also be available.
