"Detectives Search for Suspects in Fatal Shooting"

Los Angeles – On Thursday morning, March 9, 2000, at approximately 12:55 a.m., victim Damon Anthony Sanders, 23 years of age, a resident of Los Angeles, was inside his car (1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, 2-door, blue, Ca. License Plate 1MUV108) at the intersection of 67th Street and Vanness Avenue. He was with two of his friends, Charles Standokes, 25 years old, and Tyrone Glenford Diamond, 21 years old. They were waiting for the tri-light signal to turn green. Unknown suspect(s) approached them on foot and fired several rounds into the car. Sanders sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and died at the scene. Standokes sustained a single gunshot wound to his right leg and was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department, Rescue Unit 66 to a local hospital where he was treated and released. Diamond was not injured.

The motive is unknown.

The suspect and weapon remain outstanding.
