Detectives Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver NR25099cm

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a 70-year-old bicyclist deceased.

On April 20, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., a vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed northbound Central Avenue from 120th Street. The vehicle collided into a bicyclist who was traveling northbound on Central Avenue. The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at scene and render aid to the victim, as required by law, and fled in an unknown direction.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

There is no description of the vehicle.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
