Los Angeles: Detectives from the
Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division are seeking
additional victims who may have had contact with Enefiok Edem who
was arrested earlier today for sexual assault.
Edem was arrested on Monday, April 17, 2017, around 10:30 a.m. in
connection to a sexual assault that occurred on Sunday, April 16,
2017, around 12:00 p.m. Edem approached the victim who was standing
near the bus bench at Woodman Avenue and Oxnard Street after having
exited the metro Orange Line. Edem offered the victim a ride which
she initially refused, but ultimately accepted to go with Edem. The
suspect told the victim that he could drive her to her friend’s
house but that he first needed to make a stop. Edem then drove the
victim to a secluded area where the victim tried to escape. Edem
physically assaulted the victim and then sexually assaulted
her.
Edem is a sex registrant with a lengthy criminal record. Detectives
believe there may be additional victims of other unreported
incidents and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating
them.
