Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division, Abused Child Section, are seeking the public’s help in identifying additional sexual assault victims.
On November 30, 2024, a 15-year-old female victim waited at a bus stop. The suspect, later identified as Derrick Dwayne Thompson, pulled up in a black Suburban, equipped with a sign on the door depicting a child care business. The suspect told the victim he worked for Child Services and offered the victim a ride home. Believing the suspect worked for Child Services, the victim entered the vehicle. The suspect drove to a parking lot, told the victim to get into the back seat, then removed the child care business sign from the vehicle door. The suspect got into the back seat with the victim, removed her clothing, and sexually assaulted her.
On January 15, 2025, detectives arrested Derrick Dwayne Thompson, a resident of Los Angeles, for 261(a)(2) PC – Forcible Rape (Booking No. 6952487), after receiving a crime report of Rape/Crime Against Child.
