WHEN:    Tuesday, September 22, 2009

11:00 a.m. Memorial arrives to the new Police Administration Building (PAB)

WHERE:   The New Police Administration Building
100 West First Street
Los Angeles, CA  90012

WHY:       The Memorial dedicated to fallen LAPD officers was built with private funding from the Los Angeles Police Foundation.  The names of 202 officers are inscribed on the brass wall which weighs 11,000 pounds. Gensler, the premier architecture firm, donated their design services to create the inspirational sculpture.

At 10:30 a.m., an LAPD motorcycle escort will greet the truck transporting the Memorial from Kansas City at Rosemead and the I-10 Freeway.  Together they will travel directly to the new Police Administration Building where a crane will lift the wall onto the site.  The Kansas City Police Department provided a motorcycle escort to their City limits to demonstrate their solidarity with the Los Angeles Police Department.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., families of the fallen officers, elected officials, donors, and LAPD command staff will gather to formally dedicate the Memorial Wall.

The Los Angeles Police Department would like to offer a special thanks to the donors who contributed to the creation of the Memorial Wall.
