"Double Homicide Investigation"

Los Angeles – On Thursday, April 13, 2000, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Victims Jermaine Corey Fields 25 years of age, and Omar Jemile Reed 26 years of age, were observed having a conversation with suspect #1 (shooter) in the front yard of a residence in the 1100 block of Browning Boulevard. For no apparent reason, the suspect drew a handgun and shot Fields and Reed. Suspect #1 returned to the vehicle being driven by Suspect #2. Both suspects fled from the scene in an unknown type sports utility vehicle, southbound on Budlong Avenue.

The Police and a LAFD Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene. Victim Fields failed to respond to medical treatment and he was pronounced dead at scene due to gunshot wounds. Victim Reed was transported by LAFD Rescue Ambulance to a local hospital where he failed to respond to medical treatment. He was subsequently pronounced dead. The motive for the incident is unknown.
