March 3, 2022

North Hills: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division arrested a male driver after being involved in a fatal traffic collision.

On March 2, 2022, around 7:00 p.m., a 1999 tan Chevrolet pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound Woodley Avenue when it ran a red light and collided with a white Nissan sedan.  The Nissan was negotiating a left turn onto westbound Parthenia St from Woodley Avenue when the collision occurred.  The force of the collision forced both vehicles to travel in a southwest direction causing the Chevrolet pickup to overturn and the Nissan to collide with the sidewalk and a light pole.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the driver and sole occupant of the Nissan to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.  The driver of the Chevrolet was injured and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in police custody.  He has been identified as 26-year-old Manuel Sandoval, from Canoga Park.  Sandoval will be booked for Murder-187(a)PC once he is cleared for booking.

The identity of the Nissan driver will not be released until next of kin has been notified.  She was a female, approximately 33-years-old.

Drivers are reminded not to DRINK AND DRIVE. Drinking and driving combined with other traffic violations kills innocent lives. This reckless act carries serious consequences.
