UPDATE

 The statue of Ed Sullivan was recovered today in good condition by LAPD North Hollywood detectives.  This is still an ongoing investigation.

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department North Hollywood Area burglary detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible for grand theft.

On Sunday, September 28, 2014, a statue of Ed Sullivan was taken from atop its pedestal at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza, located in the 5200 block of Lankershim Boulevard.
 
The solid bronze statue weighs around 20 pounds and stands 1 foot 6 inches tall.  It was being displayed in an outdoor exhibit, along with several other classic television personalities and television pioneers in the Hall of Fame Plaza.
