Manchester Avenue, Los Angeles. Immediately following the inspection, eighteen new vans will be donated to each Area for youth programs. Primarily, these vans will be used by the Explorer Program within each area. Five of these vans were donated to the Explorer program by Mr. and Mrs. Stern, citizens of Los Angeles. The Stern family will be honored at this presentation for their generous donation.
The Law Enforcement Program began in 1962 and has made a tremendous impact on young adults throughout the Los Angeles area. Explorers are committed to public service, including community service and crime prevention to all areas of Los Angeles. Explorers volunteered over 80,659 hours for the year of 2000. For the year of 2001, Explorers have already completed over 30,000 hours of public service.
It is anticipated that over 450 guests will attend the inspection and the presentation. Chief Bernard C. Parks will be the guest speaker and honor the Stern family. Los Angeles Police Department command staff will be in attendance, as well as special guests.
