"Ex-Boyfriend Attempts to Kill Ex-Girlfriend and Family Members"
Sun Valley: On Saturday, October 13, 2001, at approximately 10:29 a.m., North Hollywood patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Ambulance Enroute-Shots Fired" located in the 8300 block of Amboy Avenue.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered 32 year-old, male, Hispanic, Anthony Saucedo a current resident of Pasadena and a former resident of Sun Valley, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his wounds.
Further investigation revealed that Saucedo had driven from Pasadena to find his estranged girlfriend returning home with another man, who happened to be one of Saucedo’s brothers. Saucedo attacked his ex-girlfriend, punching her, then throwing rocks and a bottle at her. He then threatened to kill her and his brother before running inside her residence. The ex-girlfriend and the brother fled the location on foot.
Saucedo, now armed himself with a large kitchen knife, ran to a neighboring house, where the sister of his ex-girlfriend resides with her two daughters and a son-in-law. Saucedo assumed they were hiding his ex-girlfriend in their residence. Saucedo began cutting open the locked screen door and tried to stab his ex-girlfriend’s sister and one of her daughter’s. The daughter’s husband armed himself with a handgun and fired one shot into Saucedo’s upper torso to stop the attack.
Several neighbors were interviewed by investigators and the corroborated the statements of the residents where the shooting occurred. The death investigation is still on going and it is doubtful charges will be sought against the man who shot Saucedo in defense of his wife and mother-in-law.
This information was received from Detective III Mike Coffey, North Hollywood Support Division.
